Psalms 73

I was looking through the notes that I had kept on my phone and I saw "Psalm 73- READ IT" Okay? So I read it... this is what it has to say.

Psalm 73
1 Truly God is good to Israel,
to those whose hearts are pure.
2 But as for me, I almost lost my footing.
My feet were slipping, and I was almost gone.
3 For I envied the proud
when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness.
4 They seem to live such painless lives;
their bodies are so healthy and strong.
5 They don’t have troubles like other people;
they’re not plagued with problems like everyone else.
6 They wear pride like a jeweled necklace
and clothe themselves with cruelty.
7 These fat cats have everything
their hearts could ever wish for!
8 They scoff and speak only evil;
in their pride they seek to crush others.
9 They boast against the very heavens,
and their words strut throughout the earth.
10 And so the people are dismayed and confused,
drinking in all their words.
11 “What does God know?” they ask.
“Does the Most High even know what’s happening?”
12 Look at these wicked people—
enjoying a life of ease while their riches multiply.
13 Did I keep my heart pure for nothing?
Did I keep myself innocent for no reason?
14 I get nothing but trouble all day long;
every morning brings me pain.

15 If I had really spoken this way to others,
I would have been a traitor to your people.
16 So I tried to understand why the wicked prosper.
But what a difficult task it is!
17 Then I went into your sanctuary, O God,
and I finally understood the destiny of the wicked.
18 Truly, you put them on a slippery path
and send them sliding over the cliff to destruction.
19 In an instant they are destroyed,
completely swept away by terrors.
20 When you arise, O Lord,
you will laugh at their silly ideas
as a person laughs at dreams in the morning.

21 Then I realized that my heart was bitter,
and I was all torn up inside.
22 I was so foolish and ignorant—
I must have seemed like a senseless animal to you.
23 Yet I still belong to you;
you hold my right hand.
24 You guide me with your counsel,
leading me to a glorious destiny.
25 Whom have I in heaven but you?
I desire you more than anything on earth.
26 My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak,
but God remains the strength of my heart;
he is mine forever.

27 Those who desert him will perish,
for you destroy those who abandon you.
28 But as for me, how good it is to be near God!
I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter,
and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.

This chapter is such a powerful set of verses (so I think). Sometimes... okay a lot of the time it just gets me through life and even my days. I will admit that I find myself getting wrapped up in the why's of life.

vs 16. "So I tried to understand why the wicked prosper but what a difficult task it is!"

I ask myself, "Why don't I have accomplishments at my age?" or "Why do some people have things and I don't?" But what defines me/you as accomplished or successful. These are a few words that categories people as successful.
*Success, Succeed, Accomplished, Established
(click on definitions)

These four words that can categories your position/level in life. At the same time none of these definitions specify what an exact position of success is (ie. doctor, annual salary, material items). Interesting. Society is the one that has defined these categories in more specific detail.

I believe that if we/I agree to societies definitions of success we/I will be unsatisfied and disappointed time after time. I turn to Psalms 73:26, "My health may fail and my spirit may grow week, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever."

Things (success) may come and go but God remains constant.

Be Blessed.

Merry Christmas!!!

What an EVENTFUL day! Family family family.
Chris and I did a big breakfast in the early morning. Chris for the first time
made homemade biscotti. He did a really good job too!

Then we all opened out stockings and presents.

Chris got a "cat-a-polt" literately. Fun, huh?!
The parents got us a Keurig Coffee maker. Awesome. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We seriously love it.

All the Furst kids gave them the Christmas traditionaly gift...a picture of all of us kids together. Precious, huh!?

Here is the picture.

One more thing some people might want to consider for next year because it does work. You might remember that I posted up my "Christmas Wish List" on the blog. Well... it worked!!! I can check off my list a year subscription to AMERICAN PHOTO MAGAZINE. Thank you, Elizabeth! So remember to post your Christmas Wish list up on a blog for next year. Mine came true.

Blog backgrounds.

Go ahead and say it, "You have the cutest blog background ever!"
I will let you in on my secret...only because I'm tired of reading blogs with boring backgrounds. he-he. I found it at The Cutest Blog on The Block
Consider this grand discovery my Christmas present to you.

Merry Christmas.

I Am Second.

I read on another blog that Brian Welch, former band member from KORN has excepted Christ. I remember when KORN performed on David Letterman I turned the channel because he was so creepy. Amazing what God can do. Attached on the blog was a link to his testimony. On the bottom of the website are links to other "celebrities" that have excepted Christ or are Christians. Very cool ministry especially to reach out to the people in the "Hollywood" life style.

If you have some time check it out. What do you think of the ministry?

About the I am Second ministry
Brian Welch testimony
Stephen Baldwin testimony

I really like how they did the filming.

Brighter days.

It's sad when you are looking forward to the day when it becomes weather appropriate to change your blogs background to rolling green hills and bright blue skies. I guess it's the simple things in life that can brighten your day.

This weekend Chris and I went to see "YES MAN!". I would recommend that you go see it. I really enjoyed the perspective of saying YES to everything and from that comes great experiences, meeting new people, gaining knowledge, etc. Of course the reality of it is you can't say YES to everything because somethings put you in danger. But I think it would broaden your outlook on being open to new experiences. Do yourself a favor this Christmas season and go see it. Make sure you great some POPCORN!!!

"to see the world through a camera reminds me of when I was a kid and the world was so colorful." ~YES, MAN!

Birthday dinner

Tonight we celebrated my brother-in-law, Dave's birthday at Outback Steak House. Happy Birthday, Dave!

The statement of the evening was from my Mother-in-law, Carolyn. "While I have you all here this evening, what I want for my birthday is..." She's the cutest! And the action of the evening was when Chris dipped his finger in Dave's soup and then Dave scooped up potato soup into Chris' lemonade. Awkward! But we had a great time.

We are missing a picture of Steve. He was there too! Love ya, Steve.

Word of the Day.

kickshaw

\KICK-shaw\noun.
-a fancy dish

How appropriate for the holiday season. See how many times you can incorporate this great word this Christmas.

Salute to Coffee

I thought this was funny that I have all these pictures of me drinking coffee.
Dad, that is $20 right there. Nice, huh?!?!?!?!

Salute to coffee for making my days brighter, my spirits higher, but not my tummy bigger.

Cheers!

Yum, yum, yummies

This lady in the office is an amazing baker and she made Russian Tea Cakes. I always forget that these are seriously my fav. Especially, with black coffee. I'm telling you, pure serenity.

I made my own batch this morning out of spontaneity. Might I add that we have so many holiday treats in the house right now and no one it eating them. Only the chocolate chip cookies (two batches so far)are gone immediately. Strange. Maybe they will like the Russians.

Christmas Wish List

Are you ready to hear this?

I am about to reveal something so disgusting you'll want to vomit in your mouth. So warning, warning if you don't want to read what I'm about to share with you, you should probably not continue any further and save yourself from the scaring thoughts that will haunt your dreams.

Are you still reading? You are brave.

Today I consumed 1 turtle mocha, 4 chocolate chip cookies, 1 McDonald Hamburger, 2 Reese Peanut Butter Cups, and 3 Peanut Butter Blossoms. Along with 2 slices of pizza. Needless to say I'm about to explode with holiday cheer. To top it off I have a sugar headache to hit the hay with.

Gross, right?

Word of the Day.

lothario • \loh-THAIR-ee-oh\ (noun)
: a man whose chief interest is seducing women

example sentence:
Marie denounced her ex-boyfriend as a conniving lothario who liked to play the field but who had no interest in making a real commitment.

Baking continued.

Last night Sara and I again put our baking skills to the test. Not to brag but we think we are really good!(pretty sure I'm kidding)

I made the infamous Reese Peanut Butter Cups. I was doing really well until I went to cut them and realized that I was suppose to cut them before I froze them. Duuh! It made for a really difficult cut. Might I add that I totally did the same thing last year. Except I wasn't smart enought to think of leaving them out over night to soften and then cut them. Thinking of these ideas must come with age or at least that is what I keep telling myself.

The majority of the night was spend frosting sugar cookies. I'll toot my horn on that and say we did an awesome job! It helps when you buy pre-made frosting. Sara did an excellent job replicating Betty Crocker cookies(I'm being sarcastic) This is how good she did.

Betty Crocker cookie:

Sara's cookie. Not bad, huh! I especially like the pig tail's or some may say
"Jesus fishes" Nice job- A for effort!

No more picking on Sara. Love ya- Sara!

I just got carried away with my frosting and thought I was a professional baker for a moment. Here are mine.

spaghetti man we called him.

Car concerts.

Are you brave enough to admit it? I will. I will admit that I put on a great concert. I sing at the top of my lungs to my great country music every single time I get into my car. I was singing today as I was making my way to the bank and back home. For me there is a spiritual/comforting fulfilment when I sing. I just LOVE IT!

I was thinking the other day about the art of singing and how a day has never gone by that I haven't been singing something. It just goes along with my day. Then it made me think if there are any people in the world that actually do go a day with never singing. Whether it's to themselves or to someone. When I thought about it it just boggled my mind because it's such a soulful part of my life I can't imagine life without it. To think I'd never be able to sing would make for a sad depressing life. I am so thankful that I can sing and enjoy my own voice. Thank you God!

Anyways... just a thought.

Word of the day.

I have decided to do a "Word of the Day" with the help of Merriam-Webster on-line. I'm going to try and post a word everyday with my posts and for each post I will use the word at least once. I thought of this idea the other day. I have tried to learn new words several times in the past but am never successful because I forget how to pronounce it throughout the day or just forget the word completely. Maybe by writing it out I'll be more dedicated. I feel with age my brain is going to pot. Not really, but it will help to keep my vocabulary strong.
So... lets begin.

phooey/ˈfu:wi/
-used to express disbelief, disappointment, or a strong dislike for something.

What a strong word. Right now I am not strongly disappointed in anything so phooey to really using this word in an expressive story.

There, there was my little blurp.

The blessed Christmas tree.

Tonight we put up and decorated the Christmas tree. It took a little while because we weren't to keen on putting on the dreaded lights that were tangled in knots. But Chris so graciously volunteered to put them on. As we watched and sort of coached him on how it all looked, we were over come with a sudden sense of 'Christmas spirit' and started to help decorate. The power of the tree.

Holiday bake-a-thon

The bake-a-thon began this morning at 11:00 at Sara Coder's house. Within four hours we had holiday treats everywhere. Sara was more ambitious then I was. I stuck to the no-bake treats to kick off the season. I didn't want to be to daring right away and be a show off and then they turn out like junk. ha-ha!

Here are the pictures! We had a good time.

the outside patio was our freezer for the day! it worked GREAT!

My truffles called for white chocolate drizzle on the harden milk chocolate balls. So Sara tells me that her Mom microwaves everything even chocolate so I decided that since there wasn't a lot of white chocolate to melt I would melt it in the microwave. I put it in there for a minute, checked on it and stirred it. Then I left it for another minute and stirred it...still fine. By the next minute it was ruined. Sara failed to tell me that her Mom puts it in the microwace for 30 secs and stirs it each time. Needless to say the white chocolate was garbage and I ended up putting another bag in the double broiler. Always follow directions!

can't forget Ranger!
